Soviet science has produced few weapons as feared, or as misunderstood, as the Tesla Tank. Mounting a scaled-down version of the same coil technology that powers Soviet Tesla defences, it trades some of the Heavy Tank's raw armour for a weapon that arcs electricity through anything unfortunate enough to be caught in range — vehicle or infantry alike.
| Class | Special armoured vehicle |
|---|---|
| Armament | Tesla coil discharge |
| Armour | Medium |
| Notable trait | Charges before firing; recharges between shots |
Role
The Tesla Tank excels at breaking fortified positions that a straightforward armoured assault would grind against uselessly — its discharge punches through defensive structures and clustered infantry with an effectiveness conventional cannon shells struggle to match. Soviet commanders favour it particularly in siege scenarios, where its ability to soften static defences shortens engagements that might otherwise cost far more Heavy Tanks.
Limitations
The charge-and-discharge cycle leaves the Tesla Tank vulnerable between shots, and it lacks the raw survivability of a standard Heavy Tank in a prolonged firefight. It performs best paired with conventional armour that can absorb return fire while the Tesla Tank delivers the decisive blow, rather than operating alone against a well-defended position.
Field notes
Allied commanders facing a Tesla Tank push are advised to disperse infantry rather than cluster them — a discharge that would otherwise devastate a packed group of Riflemen does far less damage to a spread-out line. Soviet doctrine, in turn, teaches new officers to commit Tesla Tanks only once a target has been identified and isolated, not as a general-purpose vanguard unit.
