◤ NEW UPDATE: RANKINGS REVISED ◢ Welcome to my personal shrine to the three great gyūdon (beef bowl) chains of Japan: Sukiya, Yoshinoya, and Matsuya. This page exists because nobody else on the modern internet has ranked them with the seriousness they deserve. I have eaten at all three more times than I am willing to admit in a public document, and I have opinions. A gyūdon bowl is simple: rice, thin-sliced beef, onion, a sweet soy-dashi broth. Three companies have spent over a century arguing about how to do it best. This site is my attempt to settle it, one page per chain, plus a final verdict. Click a name above to enter each hall of the shrine, or go straight to the final comparison if you're impatient. |
