Est. Whenever I Got Sick Of Algorithms
Bookworm's Hollow started as a paper notebook I kept in high school, listing every book I finished with a star rating and a one-line verdict. When I learned HTML, moving it online felt obvious --- a page doesn't get lost the way a notebook does, and it doesn't need an app, an account, or a subscription to exist.
There's no tracking on this site, no newsletter popup, no "recommended for you" carousel guessing at what I should read next based on what I clicked last. Just three pages of honest opinions about books, kept the way people kept personal pages before every site started looking like every other site: a little ugly, a little slow, entirely mine.
I'm not a critic, a librarian, or an English major --- just someone who reads on the bus, reads before bed, and occasionally reads instead of doing the dishes. If that sounds like you too, welcome. Pull up a chair. The good chair, not the one with the wobbly leg.
This site is built entirely by hand with plain HTML and CSS --- no JavaScript, no framework, no build tool doing anything clever. If it looks a bit like the internet from 1998, that's on purpose. That web was slower, weirder, and a lot more like a person's actual bedroom wall.
