Canberra is a small city with a surprising number of places to get a game. Here's the rundown of where I usually end up, roughly in order of how often I show up.

Badminton ACT's home stadium

Badminton ACT, the sport's governing body in the territory, runs its own dedicated stadium out in the Belconnen area, with courts set aside for social hit-outs, coaching, and the pennant competition described on my competitions page. If you only ever visit one venue on this list, make it this one — it's the closest thing Canberra has to a proper badminton clubhouse.

ANU Sport

The ANU's sports hall has badminton courts available for casual bookings and runs a badminton club with regular social sessions — handy if you're a student, or just live near Acton and want a hit without booking a whole facility.

Suburban indoor stadiums

Tuggeranong and Belconnen both have multi-sport indoor stadiums that line-mark for badminton alongside basketball and netball, and hire courts out by the hour — a good option if your group just wants a casual social night without joining a club.

Community hall sessions

Keep an eye out for social sessions in suburban community halls — Lyneham is where my regular Tuesday night game happens. These tend to be BYO-racket, cash-on-the-door affairs organised by local players rather than a facility itself, so word of mouth (or a local Facebook group) is the way to find them.
