Halls Directory

Six nodes on the network, current status: all online.

NODE: BRUCE HALL STATUS: ONLINE

Est. 1961 · traditional catered hall · west side, near Sullivans Creek

The oldest node on the network and proud of it. Bruce runs on formal dinners, an unreasonable number of intercollege sport trophies, and a common room that's been rearranged so many times nobody remembers the original layout. If you hear a bagpipe at 8am, that's just Tuesday.

NODE: BURGMANN COLLEGE STATUS: ONLINE

Est. 1971 · mixed catering · named for Bishop Ernest Burgmann

Burgmann's the node that shows up to every open-mic night with a guitar it half-knows how to play. Strong arts and debating scene, a common room that never quite empties out, and a reputation for starting the loudest trivia team in any pub quiz within cooee.

NODE: TOAD HALL STATUS: ONLINE

Est. 1970 · self-catered · tucked in near Kambri

Quiet, self-sufficient, and mildly suspicious of anyone from a catered hall who complains about doing their own washing up. Toad runs on share-house energy: shared kitchens, communal cooking nights, and a noticeboard that's mostly bike parts for sale.

NODE: URSULA HALL STATUS: ONLINE

Est. 1974 · catered · named for a co-founder, Ursula Le Fanu

Central, social, and the first to put on a formal dinner when the semester's dragging. Ursula's common room doubles as neutral ground for cross-hall meetups — if an event isn't hosted here, there's a decent chance it was planned here.

NODE: FENNER HALL STATUS: ONLINE

Est. 1981 · self-catered tower · closest node to Civic

Named for Frank Fenner. Tallest node on the network, which means the best rooftop view and the longest lift queue at 8:50am. Fenner's the node people crash at after a night in Civic, no questions asked.

NODE: WAMBURUN HALL STATUS: ONLINE

Est. 2019 · self-catered · foot of Black Mountain, corner of Clunies Ross St & Dickson Rd

The newest node spliced into this archive, named by Ngunnawal elders for the black cockatoo — you'll hear them in the trees before you see them. Glass-fronted, the biggest node by headcount, and still occasionally called "SA5" by anyone who remembers what it was called before it had a name of its own.
