Nine packets recovered from the sector uplink, filed in the order received. Each carries a transmission code, a date, a category, a priority and a status; entries flagged PRIORITY: HIGH mark the two packets tied directly to Operative Kestrel's disappearance.

TX-001 12 MAR 1997 FIELD REPORT OPERATIVE KESTREL PRIORITY: STANDARD STATUS: ARCHIVED

"First confirmed sighting of an aircraft silhouette near the Compressed Air Dimension boundary that doesn't match any airframe on the sector's known list. Filing for classification."

TX-002 03 JUL 1997 OPERATOR WARNING PRIORITY: STANDARD STATUS: ARCHIVED

"All operatives: do not approach a low-flying unidentified aircraft without prior authorisation from sector command. This applies regardless of how close the silhouette appears to a known type."

TX-003 22 SEP 1997 MODELLER DIARY FRAGMENT PRIORITY: STANDARD STATUS: ARCHIVED

"Finished the half-track replica tonight. Matched the unit numeral to the 7th Mechanised Vanguard, but their own roster doesn't list it. Filed the discrepancy with the archive rather than guessing at an answer."

TX-004 14 JAN 1998 ARCHIVE CORRECTION PRIORITY: STANDARD STATUS: ARCHIVED

"MFN-024-002 was filed under Giant World in error at recovery. Reclassified to Civilian Frontier, where the vehicle's scale actually belongs. The original filing was a paperwork mistake, not a finding."

TX-005 30 APR 1998 FIELD REPORT PRIORITY: STANDARD STATUS: ARCHIVED

"Recovered the Longfathom from a flooded display case after last week's storm. Waterline scheme survived intact. Noted a faint compass stamp near the bow that isn't in the Flotilla's insignia file — cross-referencing against the 402nd now."

TX-006 19 AUG 1998 FIELD REPORT OPERATIVE KESTREL PRIORITY: HIGH STATUS: ARCHIVED

"Close approach to the aircraft near boundary marker 4. Got close enough this time to confirm the Broken Compass on the tail. Moving in for a full recovery attempt at first light."

TX-007 02 SEP 1998 OPERATOR WARNING PRIORITY: HIGH STATUS: ARCHIVED

"Operative Kestrel is now overdue by two weeks with no further transmission since 19 August. Search protocol initiated. All operatives are asked to report any Broken Compass sighting, however minor, to sector command directly."

TX-008 25 JAN 1999 MODELLER DIARY FRAGMENT PRIORITY: STANDARD STATUS: ARCHIVED

"Attempted a Wanderer-Class build tonight using spare parts as a stand-in for the archive's incomplete example. Three of the stand-in parts still didn't match anything in my own spares box. Starting to understand why the original was left unfinished."

TX-009 14 NOV 1999 FIELD REPORT PRIORITY: STANDARD STATUS: RECEIVED

"Quarterly status update filed: archive integrity stable across seven sectors, one classification still disputed. Operative Kestrel remains unaccounted for. Search files stay open."

Guestbook Archive

Entries recovered from the network's now-decommissioned public terminal, preserved here exactly as they were left.

  • Trevor H., Newcastle — March 1998: "My old 1:72 Spitfire kit had a decal that wouldn't stop silvering. Glad the field guide finally explains why."
  • M. Alders, regional club secretary — July 1998: "Has any operative near Perth seen anything matching the Broken Compass? Our club's display case lost a model overnight and we can't account for it."
  • Operative-in-training, name withheld — October 1998: "Still hoping for word on Operative Kestrel. Good luck out there, whoever's still looking."
  • D. Okafor — February 1999: "Built the Iron Warden from the archive's notes. Pin wash tip in the field guide made all the difference on the rivets."
