NETWORK BULLETIN: MFN-072-019 "Nightjar" remains unaccounted for — filed under Recovered Machines and Transmissions.

Recovered Machines

Catalogued artefacts recovered from the seven dimensional sectors.

Reading an Archive Record

Every recovered artefact is assigned a code in the format MFN-[SCALE]-[NUMBER], where the scale number carries no punctuation — a 1:72 recovery is filed under 072, a 1:35 recovery under 035, and so on. Records marked disputed have not yet been confirmed as genuine recoveries and should not be treated as reference material.

Disputed

Silhouette classification icon: swept-wing aircraft

MFN-072-019 — "Nightjar"

1:72Compressed Air Dimension
Unconfirmed
Completepaint scheme partially unreadable

Recovery site: storm drainage culvert, outer perimeter, boundary marker 4

Physical details. A swept low-wing monoplane silhouette with no manufacturer stampings anywhere on the fuselage. The cockpit glazing is frosted from the inside, and the control surfaces move freely despite no linkage being visible to any recovery operative.

Model-building notes. Operatives attempting a replica report that the decal sheet's silver trim reads as plain white under most primers; a black basecoat beneath the silver decal restores the intended contrast. See the field guide on gloss preparation before applying it.

"Third attempt to bring it in for full inspection. It sits still on the bench for exactly as long as no one is looking directly at it." — recovery log, Compressed Air Dimension team

Silhouette classification icon: tracked ground vehicle

MFN-035-004 — "Iron Warden"

1:35Mechanised Conflict Zone
Confirmed
Near-completemissing one road wheel

Recovery site: modelling club storage locker, believed misfiled decades earlier

Physical details. Riveted hull plates and a hand-painted unit numeral "7", now partly worn, traced to the 7th Mechanised Vanguard.

Model-building notes. A pin wash settled into the rivet seams before the final coat brings out the panel detail. The missing road wheel can be scratch-built from styrene rod discs of matching diameter.

"Unit numeral matches nothing in the Vanguard's surviving roster. Filed as an unlisted command variant pending further review." — archive cataloguer's note

Silhouette classification icon: wheeled ground vehicle

MFN-024-002 — "Grey Post"

1:24Civilian Frontier
Confirmed
Completeunusually heavy for its size

Recovery site: donated in an unlabelled box at a regional swap meet

Physical details. The cab interior is detailed well beyond anything the source kit would have included, and a route card left in the cargo bed lists destinations that appear on no regional map the archive has cross-referenced.

Model-building notes. If replicating this subject for display, keep interior detail restrained — the excess detail is the anomaly here, not a technique worth copying for its own sake.

"Reclassified from Giant World to Civilian Frontier after the original sector tag was found to be a filing error, not a finding." — see Transmissions, 14 January 1998

Silhouette classification icon: unidentified partial assembly

MFN-144-007 — "Wanderer-Class"

1:144Deep Miniature Space
Catalogue only
Incompleteparts do not match any known sprue tree

Recovery site: recovered mid-assembly, sprue still attached, no note of origin

Physical details. A hull marking sequence that does not correspond to any commercial kit numbering scheme on file.

Model-building notes. Operatives are asked not to attempt to finish this specific example — catalogue only. A same-scale reproduction built from a commercial kit is a safe substitute for display purposes.

"Two of the unidentified parts have since vanished from the evidence tray between inspections. Tray is now logged in and out by hand." — Deep Miniature Space liaison note

Silhouette classification icon: waterline vessel hull

MFN-700-002 — "Longfathom"

1:700Oceanic Micro-Realm
Confirmed
Completewaterline scheme intact despite water damage

Recovery site: flooded display case, recovered after a storm

Physical details. The hull number is worn away except for a small compass-like emblem stamped near the bow, missing its north-pointing arm.

Model-building notes. Waterline builds at this scale benefit from a mirror or glass base to simulate the sea's surface rather than a full hull display stand.

"The bow emblem matches nothing in the Flotilla's own insignia file. Cross-referenced with the 402nd's markings — see Lost Squadrons." — Oceanic Micro-Realm cataloguer

Disputed

Silhouette classification icon: swept-wing aircraft

MFN-048-011 — "Research Sector Interceptor"

1:48Aviation Research Sector
Disputed
Completeauthenticity contested

Recovery site: unclear; two conflicting recovery logs exist

Physical details. Markings are consistent with known Aviation Research Sector schemes, but the panel-line spacing matches a commercially available 1:48 kit exactly.

Model-building notes. Pending re-classification. Not currently recommended as reference material for a build.

"Filed as disputed rather than removed. Even a manufactured forgery is evidence of something, once we work out what." — cataloguing office memo

Silhouette classification icon: wheeled ground vehicle

MFN-012-001 — "Foreman"

1:12Giant World
Confirmed
Completecab scaled slightly larger than the rest

Recovery site: found fully assembled on the archive loading dock overnight

Physical details. Proportions are consistent with 1:12 figure scale overall, but the cab is scaled slightly larger than the rest of the assembly.

Model-building notes. A useful reference for large-scale weathering technique; see the field guide's sections on washes and dry-brushing.

"No delivery record, no sender, no request form. Logged as found, not recovered." — overnight duty log
