About ByteVault
Our Story
ByteVault started in 2003 as a side project between three people who met on a demoscene BBS in the late '90s and never quite left. We were tired of driving to the shop for a game, waiting for a patch CD to arrive by post, or losing a disc and losing the game with it. So we built the store we wanted: everything downloadable, everything re-downloadable, forever.
We're not trying to replace the shelf of jewel cases in your closet. We just think the next ten years of PC gaming should not depend on a piece of plastic surviving that long.
What We Believe
- A game you buy is yours to reinstall, on any machine you own, for as long as we exist.
- Patches should be small, frequent, and never silent.
- A storefront should get out of the way of the games it sells.
