Week 7 Session: Day Trading
Walking through a structured intraday trade plan on simulated data, at day-trading speed
Session
5 April 2027
A critique session: unlike Week 6, you’re not building a plan from scratch — you’re finding what’s wrong with someone else’s, using this week’s spread, slippage and VWAP material.
What you’re given
A simulated intraday trade plan, already written, that looks reasonable at a glance but is missing or misusing at least one piece of day-trading-specific context: no spread/slippage estimate, or VWAP treated as a standalone buy/sell signal rather than one piece of evidence.
What you do
Diagnose the plan: identify the bid/ask spread and a slippage estimate for the instrument it’s built on, check whether its use of VWAP and the day’s trend/range is doing the job of context or being treated as a signal on its own, and state specifically what would need to change to make the plan sound under day-trading conditions.
What you produce
A written critique naming what’s missing or wrong in the given plan, plus a corrected version of the parts you flagged — entry, invalidation, sizing or exit — with the spread/VWAP context now actually accounted for.
Why it matters
The Strategy Lab asks for a day-trading plan built the right way the first time; this session is where the failure modes get named before you have to avoid them yourself.
The spec
What you bring to the session. Written so a reader can tell whether it has been met without asking you.
- identifies the bid/ask spread and an estimate of slippage for a chosen simulated instrument
- produces one intraday trade plan referencing VWAP and the day's trend/range
