The course-wide rules for late work, extensions, academic integrity and getting help.

Policies and support

Simulated markets, not real trading

Every price, order, chart and position used in this course is simulated. Nothing taught here requires you to trade real money, and no assessment depends on the outcome of a real trade — sessions and assessments use supplied or simulated market material so that the mark reflects your reasoning, not your luck.

Not financial advice

This course teaches how retail markets and instruments work. Nothing in a lecture, session, deck or assessment is personalised financial advice, and nothing here should be read as a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any real instrument.

Handling market claims and sources

When a session or assessment asks you to use real historical data or refer to an outside source, cite it plainly and don’t present a simulated result as if it were a real-world outcome. Course materials label simulated data as simulated; keep that distinction in your own work too.

Late work, extensions and academic integrity

Standard university policy on late submissions, extensions and academic integrity applies to this course. If you need an extension, contact the convenor before the deadline rather than after it.

Getting help

Raise a question about a specific piece of work in the session it was set in first. For anything else, see People for who to contact and when.
