Week 1 Weekly Sync: Why Cold Email Works

Find a cold email that actually worked, then test whether it would have survived at twice the length.

8 February 2027

Exercise: find the case (30 min)

Find one cold email in your own history, sent or received, that actually worked. Write two sentences on exactly what it gave the reader to decide with, in the terms the lecture used for Ghulati, Janoch, and Field.

Exercise: test it against length (30 min)

Take the email from the first exercise and ask whether it would still have worked if it were twice as long. If yes, length wasn’t doing the work in the first place. Name what was instead. If no, identify the specific point where more length would have started costing the reader rather than helping them.
