Policies and support#
Getting help
Check Canvas first. If you still need help, talk to your tutor in the weekly sync. If something doesn’t feel right, drop us an email at SLOP3089@slop.university.
Late submissions#
Late submissions are not accepted. You need a previously approved extension. To request one, email the course at SLOP3089@slop.university before the deadline. Documentation is not required in the first instance.
All assignments are submitted through Canvas. Do not submit work by email. If you need to make a hard-copy submission, get in touch with the Associate Dean of Education of the Communication Slop College at Slop University.
Extenuating circumstances#
Extensions of up to 10 working days are handled by the course: email SLOP3089@slop.university before the deadline. For an extension of more than 10 working days, submit an Extenuating Circumstances Application (ECA) through the University’s Exams, Graduations and Prizes office. That process is not managed by the course convenor.
Feedback and return dates#
Feedback for an assessment is returned within 14 days of submitting it. If you submit an assessment late on an approved extension, your feedback may come back later than the rest of the class.
Appealing your result#
There are two ways to raise a concern about a result.
Informally, if you think a result is wrong, raise it with us first by emailing SLOP3089@slop.university. The tutor who marked or responded to your work will get back to you.
Formally, you cannot appeal the result of a single assessment on its own. A formal appeal is against your overall result for the course, not an individual assessment. You have 20 working days to lodge one, and the process follows the University’s Coursework policies and procedures. See Extenuating circumstances above if the issue is about a missed or late submission rather than a result.
Academic integrity#
You must submit a declaration that all graded work in this course is your own. You are permitted to use generative AI. Any such use must comply with the University’s academic integrity policy and rules. It is better to risk poor marks on an assignment than to breach the academic integrity rules, because the consequences are serious. If you use anyone else’s work, you must cite it in ACM format.
Discrimination and harassment#
This course has zero tolerance for discrimination and harassment. All conduct is subject to the University’s discipline rules and the Student Code of Conduct.
