People · Stream convenor — Commercial and Public Practice

Dr Sunil Raman

Convenes Commercial and Public Practice. Eleven years on public-sector selection panels, and can recite the four words that sink a criteria response.

Eleven years on public-sector selection panels leaves a person with an unusually precise ear. Sunil can recite the four words that sink a criteria response, and he has scored enough of them to know that the candidates writing those words were frequently the better candidates, which is the injustice the course exists to correct.

He came to teaching from policy, by way of a graduate recruitment program he redesigned twice, and he is the person in the building most likely to ask who the decision affected and how you know.

Sunil convenes Commercial and Public Practice, delivers the week-4 lecture, presides over the week-4 claims tribunal — which he enjoys more than he will admit in writing — and takes the third leg of the week-10 guest relay. He plays the other side in the week-10 negotiation simulation without mercy and then explains exactly what he was doing.
