Week 1 Drop-in Session: Orientation

Where the course's method gets rehearsed for the first time, on a deliberately low-stakes example, before anyone picks a real topic.

The first Drop-in Session takes the method from the Week 1 lecture — observe the norm, isolate the smallest deliberate act that breaks it, describe precisely what happens next — and runs it once on a norm nobody in the room has any stake in: how people queue for the room’s own coffee machine.

You’ll leave with a one-paragraph case study of that norm, workshopped in small groups, and a clear sense of what “evidence” needs to look like for the nine case-study weeks ahead. Bring a notebook or a laptop; there is nothing to prepare beforehand.
