Week 1: Two durations, one wait
The opening lecture, on the two numbers every wait has and why only one of them is the course's subject.
16 February 2027
Every wait has two durations. The clock gives one of them. The person doing the waiting gives the other, and the two are rarely the same number.
This lecture argues that the second number is the one systems are actually designed against, and that treating it as a measurement error is the mistake the rest of the course is about. Nothing here asks you to make anything faster.
