Four stages of one problem: define the event, site against it, operate through it, then defend a system and name what beats it.

Four tasks, one cumulative project, 100% in total. Each stage takes the previous stage’s output as its input, so nothing here can be attempted in isolation — and a weakness you leave in place early will be operating your system by week 11.

Every task is bounded by the definition at the event, or by the definition you argue for in its place.

Define the Drought

The first rung of the ladder — choose a threshold, a duration and a scope, then defend the periods your definition admits and the ones it discards.

Due 21 August 2026 · Weight: 15%

Site Against Failure

The second rung — place a renewable portfolio to reduce correlated low output rather than to maximise the capacity factor on a brochure.

Due 18 September 2026 · Weight: 20%

The 72-Hour Dispatch

The third rung — run the system hour by hour through the event, spend the storage, start the reserve, shed what you must, and record the cost.

Due 9 October 2026 · Weight: 25%

Design for the Worst Week

The final rung — build a system you are willing to defend, and state the event that still defeats it.
