Metaphor
The peace conference — the closing session where every side's account of the negotiation gets checked
Phenomenon
Synthesis of the semester's phenomena, and an explicit accounting of where the diplomatic frame sharpened observation versus where it substituted for one

Before the session

Reread your notes from weeks 1, 3 and 8 — the credentials test and its two clearest failure cases. Bring a ranked list: which week’s label was the most honest, which the least.

In the session

Run the full audit as a class, week by week, in the order taught. Every label defended has to survive a challenge from someone who read the same material and disagrees.

Afterwards

The Peace Conference assessment asks you to write this same audit alone, for a phenomenon of your own choosing, held to the same standard set in week 1. See the assessment page for the brief.

The spec

What you bring to the session. Written so a reader can tell whether it has been met without asking you.
