Orders

The course-wide rules for late work, extensions, academic integrity and getting help.

Standing orders for anyone filing a Briefing or a Dispatch. Read this once at the start of the semester; every assessment brief links back to it rather than repeating it.

Late submissions

A Field Dispatch or Peace Conference submission lands late loses 5% of the available marks per day, to a maximum of five days, after which it is not accepted without a prior extension. The network does not wait for stragglers — neither should you.

Extensions

Apply before the deadline, not after. Illness, misadventure and equipment failure are considered on their evidence, not on the strength of the prose describing them. A request made after the fact is treated as a late submission with an explanation attached, not an extension.

Academic integrity

Every claimed biological phenomenon must trace to a real source — a textbook, a paper, a review — cited in the body text or a closing reference list. Fabricated citations are treated as fabricated data, because in this course they are the data. Generative tools may assist drafting, but the diplomatic metaphor and the underlying biology must both be understood well enough to defend without the tool present.

Getting help

Office hours are held weekly; the sign-up link is circulated with the first Briefing of semester and is not repeated here, since dossiers this old go stale. Outside office hours, route questions through the course forum so the answer reaches everyone running the same case, not just the one who asked.
