Marguerite Osei trained as a field mycologist before this course existed, and still thinks the diplomatic framing is a useful provocation rather than a finding. Her running condition for keeping the metaphor in the course is that every week it must be checked against the literature it is dressed up as describing — the day it stops earning that check, it gets cut, not qualified.
