- Metaphor
- Refugee crises — displacement and reallocation after a shock
- Phenomenon
- Shifts in mycorrhizal community composition and resource reallocation after fire, drought or logging disturbance
Before the session#
Read the assigned material on post-disturbance mycorrhizal recolonisation. Bring one candidate answer to whether “reallocation” implies a rescue, or just a redistribution with no rescuer.
In the session#
Work through the surviving-network case from the reading and identify who gains, who loses, and whether anything in the mechanism resembles a decision.
Afterwards#
This week is a direct rerun of week 3’s test, applied to a different phenomenon — expect the same care about what “crisis” and “displacement” are allowed to imply.
The spec
What you bring to the session. Written so a reader can tell whether it has been met without asking you.
- you can name one specific disturbance type studied for its effect on mycorrhizal communities
- you can state one difference in how the reading's example communities respond to that disturbance
