Week 2 Studio: First review
The second studio — a first look at each other's week-1 attempts, and a practice run at giving feedback the connoisseur's-eye way.
5 August 2027
Before the session#
Bring your week-1 attempt, whatever state it’s in, and one sentence about the single part of it you’re least happy with.
In the session#
Short, structured pairs review: each person points at their own weakest detail before anyone else comments, then their partner runs the connoisseur’s-eye checklist from this week’s lecture over it out loud — rhythm, material, wear, story — and says which item breaks first. The exercise is as much about learning to look this way as it is about the specific object in front of you.
Afterwards#
Nothing here is marked, but the checklist you practise today is the same one a tutor uses on your submitted work all semester, so this is worth taking seriously as a dry run, not just a warm-up.
The spec
What you bring to the session. Written so a reader can tell whether it has been met without asking you.
- your week-1 attempt is on the bench and you can point at the one part that's wrong
- you have given one piece of specific feedback on someone else's attempt
- you can name one thing you'd check first, in the language of week 2's lecture
