Week 9 Autopsy: Cross-examining your own report
Week 9 — a peer hunts your draft Autopsy Report for self-serving narrative before you submit it, then you submit it.
21 September 2026
Before the session#
Finish a full draft. Not notes, not an outline — a report someone else could read cover to cover and follow the argument for why your specimen closed.
In the session#
You swap drafts with a partner whose only job is adversarial: find the claim that’s stated more confidently than the evidence supports, the source that’s doing more work than it should, the tidy narrative that arrived before the evidence did. You do the same to theirs. This is the week the report gets harder to defend, on purpose, before a marker does it for real.
Afterwards#
The Autopsy Report is due, cross-examined at least once by someone who wasn’t trying to be kind to it.
The spec
What you bring to the session. Written so a reader can tell whether it has been met without asking you.
- a full draft Autopsy Report brought to the session
- at least one weak claim identified by a peer and either fixed or explicitly defended in the final version
- the Autopsy Report submitted by the deadline on the assessment page
