Week 7 Autopsy: The landlord's alibi
Week 7 — testing the most commonly blamed cause of closure against your actual evidence, instead of accepting it by default.
7 September 2026
Before the session#
Check whether “the rent went up” (or its local equivalent — a lease non-renewal, a redevelopment) is actually part of your specimen’s story, or whether you’ve been reaching for it because it’s the easiest explanation available for any closure anywhere.
In the session#
Renata sets up the test: if rent were the real cause, what would you expect to be true elsewhere in the case file — declining margins visible in the menu reading, a lease term that lines up with the closure date, a landlord dispute mentioned anywhere in the reviews or news coverage? You check your specimen against those expectations rather than against your gut.
Afterwards#
A verdict on the landlord’s alibi — guilty, exonerated, or genuinely unknown from the available evidence — which is itself a legitimate finding for the Autopsy Report, not a failure to find an answer.
The spec
What you bring to the session. Written so a reader can tell whether it has been met without asking you.
- the rent/landlord explanation stated as a testable claim, not an assumption
- evidence for or against it drawn from the case file, not asserted
