Week 6 Autopsy: Borrowing a method
Week 6 — applying a professional post-mortem framework from outside hospitality to your specimen, after this week's lecture.
31 August 2026
Before the session#
Attend this week’s lecture on how aviation incident reports, software post-mortems and restaurant criticism each structure a failure investigation differently, then pick whichever framework fits your specimen’s evidence best.
In the session#
You run your specimen through the chosen framework in front of the room, which usually means discovering a question the framework insists you answer that you’d been quietly skipping — an incident-report method insisting on a timeline of who-knew-what-when, say, when you’d been writing in vague impressions.
Afterwards#
A second, differently-shaped pass at your specimen, which either confirms what the location audit and the review timeline already suggested or complicates it — both outcomes are useful going into next week’s test of the landlord’s-fault story.
The spec
What you bring to the session. Written so a reader can tell whether it has been met without asking you.
- one named framework from outside hospitality applied to the specimen
- at least one finding the framework surfaced that your own ad hoc method hadn't
