Week 10: When the autopsy lies

Week 10 — survivorship bias, selection bias, and the restaurants this whole method is structurally unable to see.

28 September 2026

What this covers

Every specimen in this course was chosen because it left a trail — reviews, coverage, a paper trail of complaints. That’s also a selection filter: the restaurants that failed fastest and most quietly, before anyone reviewed them, are invisible to every method taught so far. This lecture names that bias directly, plus the smaller ones that creep into a single report — picking the quote that fits the theory, treating a memorable story as evidence because it’s memorable.

What it sets up

The session immediately following this lecture has you turn the same scrutiny on your own draft Autopsy Report before it’s marked, which is the whole point of putting this lecture in week 10 rather than week 1 — it lands right when you have a report of your own to doubt.
