Every piece of graded work in the course, what it is worth, and when it is due.

Three pieces of work. The first two are mechanisms you build, use for a fortnight and then demonstrate live in the lecture slot — nothing is handed in for either. The third is thirty hours spent on a subject you have already failed to get through, and an exam we set on the part of it you chose.

Both mechanisms can be built on paper or in code, and the two routes are marked identically. A paper system in daily use marks better than a half-finished program, and the reverse is also true.

Assessment 1: a short-loop mechanism

Build something that gives a thirty-minute sitting the structure a ranked match has, run it for a fortnight, and demonstrate it live

Due 22 March 2027 · Weight: 25%

Assessment 2: getting a grip on something hard

Attack a real subject before you understand it, take one lesson per attempt, and let the list of what you are fighting grow out of those attempts. Run it for a fortnight and demonstrate it live

Due 3 May 2027 · Weight: 25%

Assessment 3: the run

Thirty hours on the course you stalled on and still need, driven by the mechanism you built, ending in an exam set on the quarter you cut

Due 24 May 2027 · Weight: 50%
