Assignment 2: The Full Workup
A mixed-media case worked with at least three independent methods, written up as a forensic report
Due: 5 April 2027 · Weight: 20%
The brief#
Given a case involving more than one kind of media, work it the way the first seven weeks taught you to: multiple methods, checked against each other, written up so someone else could follow your reasoning and disagree with a specific step if they wanted to.
Assignment 1 asked for two checks on one kind of content. This asks for at least three, spanning at least two of text, image, video and provenance checking — and it asks you to notice, in writing, where your methods agreed and where they didn’t. A response that runs three checks that all point the same way and stops there is doing less work than one that runs three checks, finds a genuine disagreement between two of them, and reasons through it.
What you submit#
A forensic report (800–1200 words, images or screenshots welcome and not counted against the length): the case, every method applied and what each found, an account of any disagreement between methods, and a verdict with a stated confidence level that a reader could sanity-check against the evidence you presented.
The spec
The brief poses the problem and leaves room for a response. The spec is the fixed part: what a marker checks. Some lines can be checked mechanically; the rest call for judgement.
- submitted by the deadline as a written forensic report
- combines at least three independent methods spanning weeks 3 through 7
- the report's stated confidence matches the strength of the evidence gathered
