Week 6 Lobby Lab: Watch one player
The class watches one replay together, each student following a single position start to finish, then reassembles the game from five accounts
1 April 2027
What to bring#
A client that can play replays.
How it runs#
The class watches one professional replay together. Each student follows exactly one position, start to finish, and does not watch anybody else — which is harder than it sounds, and is most of the exercise.
Afterwards the five positions report: what my player did all game, when they got strong, and one clear mistake.
The tutor chooses the replay and publishes it with the week’s materials.
How you know it went well#
Your account of one player is specific enough that the other four positions can slot theirs against it and produce a game.
Assignment 2 opens this week, and this session is the demonstration of its form. Here you learn what a review looks like; Assignment 2 is you doing one.
The spec
What the tutor is checking for by the end of the session — not that you understood the drill, but that you did it, in a form somebody else in the room could confirm.
- you followed one position for the whole game and can retell their timeline
- you named their power spike and how you spotted it
- you named one decision they made well or badly — a decision, not a piece of execution
