Week 1 Lobby Lab: Finish a whole game
Five-person bot match, nobody looks at the scoreboard, and everybody leaves with a client that works
25 February 2027
What to bring#
A Dota 2 client that actually launches, and a headset with a working microphone. If either is in doubt, come anyway — sorting that out is half of what this session is for.
How it runs#
Five-person groups, one bot match each, on Turbo. One rule: nobody looks at the scoreboard. Afterwards each person says one sentence about what they were doing.
Turbo this week only, and the reason is worth saying: the point is that everybody finishes a game inside the session. Normal-length matches start in week 2.
How you know it went well#
You got in, you stayed to the end, and you can name the building that ended it. Nothing about how you played.
The spec
What the tutor is checking for by the end of the session — not that you understood the drill, but that you did it, in a form somebody else in the room could confirm.
- you arrive with a Dota 2 client that runs and a headset with a working mic
- you finish a whole game without leaving
- you can say what was destroyed at the moment the game ended
