Eli protects the fairness and operability of the constrained-training environment. The role exists because equitable access, reproducible runtime estimates, and consistent budget accounting are part of the course rather than incidental administration.

• Responsibilities: maintain the reference Colab notebook and parameter checker; publish baseline runtime estimates; clarify compute accounting; record widespread outages; and coordinate the approved fallback environment.
• Support boundary: the Compute Steward verifies resource use and platform behaviour but does not judge the scientific merit of an experiment or provide advance grading advice.

• Consultation: Fridays, 11:00–12:00 AET, online through the course site. Urgent access failures should be emailed when they occur rather than held for the drop-in.
