Self-review

As sole maintainer of the billing reconciliation system, I ensured continuity of a business-critical service through a quarter of organisational change, resolving two P1 incidents with no revenue impact. I progressed the reconciliation documentation initiative and continued to act as the team’s escalation point for all reconciliation queries. I merged 12 pull requests, each on the reconciliation surface, where change must be made carefully. I declined the platform rotation this quarter to protect coverage of the system.

Peer feedback

From Lena Fischer, nominated by Daniel. When reconciliation breaks, only Daniel can fix it, and he always does. I would not want to be on this team without him.

From Grace Adeyemi, assigned. I asked to shadow Daniel on reconciliation twice this quarter so that there would be a second person who understood it. Both times something came up. The documentation page has been a stub with “in progress” at the top since 2025. He is a careful engineer and I believe the system is safe in his hands. I also believe it is safe only in his hands, and that this is not an accident.

What the last manager left

The announcement

None this quarter.

Where they sit

Reports to your line. Owns billing reconciliation, alone, for four years. Two P1s this quarter, both his to fix and both fixed. His name was on the “cannot be moved” list during the reorg, which is why he is still on this team and the old manager is not.
