Self-review

I led Deploy Platform v2, a strategic re-architecture of our legacy deployment pipeline into a scalable, multi-tenant platform. I authored the design document, secured director-level sponsorship, and shipped Milestone 1 on schedule in March with six services migrated. The platform positions the team for the division’s 2027 reliability targets and has been adopted as the reference architecture for two sister teams. I also merged 31 pull requests and represented the team at the division architecture review. Next quarter I will complete the migration and hand the platform to a maintenance owner.

Peer feedback

From Priya Natarajan, nominated by Aisha. Deploy Platform v2 is the most ambitious thing this team has done in the time I have been here. Aisha saw it through from a doc to a launch in one quarter, which almost nobody manages. She is operating well above her level.

From Kenji Watanabe, assigned. The old pipeline worked. It was ugly and nobody was praised for keeping it running, but it deployed 25 services every day without anyone thinking about it. Milestone 1 migrated six of them. I have migrated the other nineteen since, on my own, and handled the two incidents that v2 caused in March. The design is good. The bill for it landed on me.

The announcement

Subject: Deploy Platform v2: Milestone 1 shipped
From: Aisha Rahman
To: engineering-all, Renata Vos

Milestone 1 of Deploy Platform v2 is live. Six services now deploy through the new platform, with the remaining migration scheduled over the coming weeks. v2 replaces a legacy pipeline that had reached the limits of its design and gives us a foundation for the reliability work ahead. Thank you to the team for the collaboration on this one.

Where they sit

Reports to your line. Owns v2 on paper. Renata has cited the project at division level. Kenji reports to the same line and is doing the migration. The two incidents v2 caused are logged against Kenji, who handled them.
