The course-wide rules for late work, extensions, academic integrity and getting help.

Policies and support

Late submission

Work submitted late is charged a holding cost: 5% of the assessment’s total weight per day late, for up to five days, after which the position is closed at zero. This is a mechanical rate, not a judgement of the work — the same rate applies whether the work is finished or half-done, because the policy prices the delay, not the content.

Extensions

An extension is a repriced deadline, agreed in advance of the original one wherever possible. Request one by emailing the convenor with the specific new date requested and the reason; “as much time as I can get” is not a request the policy can process, because it doesn’t name a condition under which the extension ends. Extensions requested after the original deadline has passed are treated as a late submission until agreed otherwise — requesting one is not, by itself, a stop on the late-submission clock.

Academic integrity

Every piece of submitted work must be your own analysis, applying the model to a case you have the standing to write about. Composited or de-identified cases are expected and encouraged, per the assessment briefs — what isn’t permitted is presenting someone else’s classification of a case as your own, or fabricating a case’s evidence to fit a cleaner narrative than the real one supports. Use of AI assistance must be declared in a short note attached to the submission, naming what it was used for; undeclared assistance is treated as an integrity breach, not as a marking deduction.

Getting help

Case reviews are where a stuck classification gets unstuck — bring the specific point you’re unsure about, not a request to have the whole case worked for you. Office hours (see the people page) are for disputing a mark or working through something that doesn’t fit a case review’s time. For anything that can’t wait for either, email the relevant teacher directly; a same-day response is a courtesy, not a guarantee.
