Unofficial, unsolicited redesign of melonDS — the real project lives atmelonds.kuribo64.net.

Fast, accurate Nintendo DS emulation.

melonDS aims to emulate the Nintendo DS — and DSi — accurately, without giving up speed. It's still evolving, but the core is nearly complete, with a solid set of features already in place.

What's emulated

A solid set of features — and more still landing.

  • A near-complete core

CPU, video, and audio are all emulated directly, covering nearly everything the hardware does.

  • JIT recompiler

Keeps emulation fast without trading away the accuracy the core is built for.

  • Enhanced 3D rendering

An OpenGL renderer upscales the DS's 3D output, with flexible screen position, sizing, and rotation modes.

  • Hardware extras

Real-time clock, microphone input, and lid open/close detection are all emulated, not stubbed out.

  • Joystick support

Play with a controller alongside keyboard and touch input.

  • Savestates

Pick up exactly where you left off, instead of relying on in-game saves alone.

  • WIP

    Connectivity

Local wireless multiplayer works today; online connectivity is still in progress.

  • WIP

    DSi & add-ons

DSi emulation and GBA slot add-ons are under active development. DLDI support is already in place.

Every build is 64-bit, and every platform is covered.

Windows and Linux each ship native x64 and ARM64 builds, macOS gets one Universal build for both architectures, and the BSD family is covered too. Grab the latest release, or a nightly build if you want to track development closely.
