Emergency Care
If your pet needs urgent help
A worried owner should bring their pet in for assessment rather than wait β call ahead if you can, but come in either way.
During opening hours
MonβFri 8:00 AMβ6:00 PM, Sat 9:00 AMβ1:00 PM.
Call 02 6113 9996 and come straight in. On arrival, our team triages every patient: genuine emergencies get immediate attention, and stable cases are slotted into the regular schedule.
After hours
Contact Canberra Veterinary Emergency Service (CVES) in Gungahlin directly on 02 6225 7257.
Suspected poisoning? Call the Animal Poisons Helpline on 1300 TOX PET.
What counts as an emergency
- Trauma β hit by a car, a fall, a suspected snake bite
- Difficulty breathing
- Uncontrollable shaking or seizures
- Pale gums
- Pronounced weakness or lethargy
- Suspected ingestion of something hazardous
If in doubt, bring your pet in β a same-day assessment is always possible during opening hours.
What happens next
We aim for same-day discharge whenever it's safe. When a case is too complex to resolve the same day, we refer to Animal Referral Hospital (Pialligo) or Canberra Veterinary Emergency Service (Gungahlin) for specialist or after-hours follow-up.
Emergencies require quick decisions with limited information, so costs can vary based on treatment needed β we'll give you an estimate and keep you updated as care progresses.
