eBird Australia's local partner
eBird Australia is coordinated locally by the Centre for Biodiversity and Conservation Science (CBCS), part of the University of Queensland. CBCS is a research centre focused on turning conservation science into real-world outcomes — eBird Australia is one of the ways that work reaches everyday birders across the country.
Who keeps it running
eBird Australia is run by a small volunteer steering committee, plus a wider team of reviewers who check submitted sightings for accuracy.
- Nancy Auerbach — Managing Editor. A conservation scientist based near the Royal National Park, NSW, with a particular interest in babblers, apostlebirds, choughs and fairy-wrens.
- Richard Fuller — Steering Committee & Editor. Conservation scientist at the University of Queensland, Brisbane, researching shorebird decline and climate impacts in Antarctica.
- Mat Gilfedder — Steering Committee Chair. Research scientist at CSIRO, and a long-time contributor to eBird Australia.
- Hugh Possingham — Steering Committee. Professor at the University of Queensland and Vice-President of BirdLife Australia.
