About CAS — and how to join

The Canberra Astronomical Society was established in 1969 and has served amateur astronomers in the ACT and surrounding regions ever since.

Between community and observatory

CAS sits between the Canberra community and Mt Stromlo. The Society promotes cooperation between amateur and professional astronomers, and keeps close ties with ANU's Research School of Astronomy and Astrophysics at Mt Stromlo — some RSAA staff are CAS members themselves. That connection carries into public education and outreach programs that bring it to schools and the wider community.
