Chinese Football
Debut album, 2015
Released in September 2015, Chinese Football's self-titled debut album collects thirteen tracks — including "Goalkeeper," "Flying Fish Turns Around" and "The Last Emo Boy on Earth" — and is where the band's math-rock/Midwest-emo sound first came together. It was self-released through Wild Records.
The album opens with "Game Start (Intro)," closes with "Game End (Outro)," and pauses midway for a "Game Pause (Interlude)" — a game-shaped structure that predates the band's later, formally named "Game Trilogy" by two years, making this arguably where the metaphor first surfaced in their work. Bandcamp tags the release as rock, emo, indie, math rock and Midwest emo out of Wuhan — labels that stuck through everything the band made afterward.
