Nala's own photos are genuinely from the same mid-90s camera roll as the motorbike page, so this styling is a deliberate anachronism: what if this page had been redone once the site's owner discovered css could do gradients, drop shadows and rounded corners, sometime in the early 2000s. gradients like these were mostly faked with background images back then rather than written directly in css, so even this is a bit ahead of its time — the point is the leap in what a stylesheet could do, not a museum-accurate replica.
