Correspondence

Terms for those wishing to inquire after a volume.

Write plainly, and state which title from the catalogue has caught your attention, and why. A letter that shows you have read the description carefully will always be answered before one that merely asks "how much."

Enclose no photographs. The proprietor does not trust them, and several have gone missing from letters in transit for reasons the shop has elected not to investigate further. A wax seal is appreciated but not required.

Allow six to eight weeks for a reply, as the post to this address is unreliable, and so, on occasion, is the proprietor. Should no answer arrive within the season, a second letter is welcome — a third is generally unnecessary, as by then the matter tends to have resolved itself, one way or another.
