Hi! Welcome to my little corner of the web!

My name is Ai Yuexi — you can call me Ava. I am from Tai’an in Shandong Province, China, and right now I am studying in Canberra, Australia.

I hope you enjoy this little site about my home town!

Thanks for visiting!

About Tai’an

Tai’an is a prefecture-level city in the western part of Shandong Province, sitting at the southern foot of Mount Tai, roughly 100 kilometres south of the provincial capital, Jinan.

~ A city named after a mountain ~

The city takes its name directly from the mountain: in Chinese, the name Tai’an (泰安) comes from an old saying that if Mount Tai is stable, the whole world is at peace.

Mount Tai, at the Centre of It All

You cannot really talk about Tai’an without talking about Mount Tai. The mountain is the reason the city exists where it does, and the reason visitors come from all over China and the world.

It carries the mountain’s name for a reason: Mount Tai is the eastern member of China’s Five Sacred Mountains, and was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1987.

There is a whole page about it — follow the Mount Tai link above when you are ready.
