Ogle

Privacy Policy

Last updated: an unspecified date. Ogle Inc. ("Ogle," "we," "us") respects your privacy. This Policy explains, in more words than strictly necessary, what we collect, what we do with it, and what we don't.

1. Overview

Ogle does not sell your search history. We simply display it back to you, surrounded by nineteen advertisers who would like to sell you diet pills, ringtones, and a free cruise. Beyond that, we do not use your data for any purpose whatsoever. We just... have it.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the bare minimum of information required to show you an ad for something you searched for once, years ago, on a different website entirely. This includes, without limitation: your search terms, your approximate location, your browser and device information, timestamps of every visit, referring pages, the duration of each visit, mouse movement patterns where supported by your browser, and any information you voluntarily submit through a form on this Site, including the search box.

3. How We Use Your Information

We do not use your information. We collect it, we store it, and then we leave it alone, the way a museum leaves an artefact behind glass. Your data is not analysed, not modelled, not sold to a third party, and not fed into anything resembling a recommendation system. It simply sits, inert, on a server, doing nothing, for no one, forever — subject to Section 11 below.

4. Cookies and Similar Technologies

Ogle uses cookies in the loosest, most 2003 sense of the term: small text files that remember almost nothing, because there is almost nothing here worth remembering. We do not use cookies for cross-site tracking, behavioural advertising, or any of the things cookies eventually became infamous for. Our advertisers, listed at length elsewhere on this Site, may have their own cookie practices; we did not ask, and they did not say.

5. Data Retention

We retain collected information indefinitely, or until our hosting bill goes unpaid, whichever comes first. There is no mechanism by which you can request deletion of your data, mostly because we never built one, but also because — per Section 3 — we are not doing anything with it anyway, so what would be the point.

6. Third-Party Advertisers

The Sponsored Links, native-style advertisements, and other paid placements appearing throughout this Site are provided by third-party advertising networks whose privacy practices are their own and not covered by this Policy. We are not responsible for what www.miracle-diet-pills.biz does with your click, your IP address, or your hopes and dreams.

7. Children's Privacy

This Site is not directed at children, is not especially directed at adults either, and does not knowingly collect information from anyone in particular. It was, after all, built to look like the internet as it existed before most current privacy law did.

8. International Users

By using Ogle from outside Australia, you consent to the transfer of your information to Australia, a country that, at time of writing, has more advertisers per search result than any comparable jurisdiction.

9. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your information, in the sense that we have not taken any steps to make it easier to steal. No method of transmission over the internet, and no method of electronic storage, is 100% secure, and we make no representation that ours is either the 99th or the 1st percentile.

10. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details in Section 12. We will acknowledge your request within a reasonable timeframe and will, at our discretion, do very little else, per the retention and usage terms described elsewhere in this Policy.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may revise this Policy from time to time. Where a revision is material, we will update the "Last updated" notice above; we are under no separate obligation to notify you by any other means, including but not limited to email, banner, pop-up, or footnote. We may amend, update, or otherwise revise this Policy at any time and for any reason, and any such amendment shall, unless expressly stated otherwise within the amendment itself, apply retroactively to all information collected under any prior version of this Policy, including, without limitation, information we previously represented as being collected for no purpose, used for no purpose, retained for no discernible reason, or otherwise held inert as described in Sections 3 and 5 above; you acknowledge and agree that continued use of the Site following the effective date of any such amendment constitutes your acceptance that data previously rendered inert, anonymised, aggregated, or purposeless under a prior version of this Policy may, under a later version, be reclassified, re-identified, or otherwise treated as active, identifiable, and purposeful, without further notice to you and without any requirement that we obtain your renewed consent, it being understood that your consent to this Section constitutes standing consent to all such future reclassifications for the life of the Site.

12. Contact Us

Questions about this Policy can be sent to our support address, which we do not publish, monitored by a team we do not name, who will respond within a timeframe we do not specify.

By using Ogle you agree that the one real result on any given search may, in fact, just be a Reddit thread.
