About the Keeper

Hi, I'm the person behind the glass.

I got into cichlids the way most people get into anything they can't stop thinking about: by accident. A single "just looking" trip to a fish shop turned into a 4-foot tank, then a hospital tank, then a spreadsheet tracking pH by the week. My family finds this very funny. I find it extremely normal.

This site exists because every hobby deserves a home page, and because the fish are more patient with my HTML than they are with water changes.

Why cichlids, specifically?

Cichlids have personalities. They rearrange gravel to suit their own taste, they remember who feeds them, and they will absolutely hold a grudge against a particular corner of the tank for no reason anyone can determine. Keeping them is less like keeping fish and more like managing a very small, very wet office.
