WHY THIS ONE
Most advice about hard feelings is really advice about avoiding them — distract yourself, wait it out, think happy thoughts. This sentence says the opposite: go toward it, on purpose, all the way through.
THE SHORTEST WAY OUT OF SOMETHING IS THROUGH IT.
It's not comfortable advice, which is exactly why it stuck. Every time I've tried to skip the "feel every thing" part and jump straight to "the other end," the feeling just waits for me somewhere else. Going through it properly is the only version that actually ends.
This page is the closest thing this site has to an artist's statement: the sentence on the previous page isn't decoration, it's the operating instructions I keep coming back to.
