Marisol convenes this course and lectures weeks 1, 2, 5, 9 and 12 — the ones where the point is a derivation rather than a decision.
They wrote it after several years of teaching an ordinary introduction to markets and noticing that students left it able to describe risk and unable to recognise it. The material was not wrong. It was arranged so that every mechanism arrived as a caveat attached to something appealing, which is a reliable way to produce someone who can define a margin call and will still be surprised by one.
So this version removes the appealing part. Twelve mechanisms, each with its arithmetic, each checked against a position the student is actually holding, and no week in which the course implies that any of this can be turned to your advantage. They are aware of how that reads in a prospectus and consider it the honest version.
Ask them about the bounded-loss policy if you are deciding between the paper and real-money tracks, and email them rather than waiting for a session if a position has begun to affect your sleep or your finances. That is the part of the policy they care most about being taken literally.
