Week 6 Lab: Midterm Workshop
Structured lab time to apply weeks 2-5 to your own diagnosis of the week 1 case studies, ahead of Assignment 1
29 March 2027
Before the lab#
Bring your notes and numbers from weeks 2, 4 and 5 — flute identification, cubic-weight calculation, sustainability-claim critique — whichever you completed for your own week 1 package.
In the lab#
- Draft — outline a diagnosis for your own package (or one of Apple, lululemon, OnTheList): which of the three logics is it optimising for, and which specific number or standard from weeks 2-5 is your evidence?
- Peer review — swap outlines with another pair. Your job is not to agree or disagree with their conclusion, but to check whether the evidence they cited actually supports it, or just gestures at it.
- Gap list — for your own case, list which weeks’ frameworks you haven’t actually applied yet (only described in words), and commit to which one you’ll run the real numbers on before Assignment 1 is due.
Afterwards#
This lab is direct preparation for Assignment 1, the midterm diagnostic — see the Assessments page for what’s expected and when it’s due.
The spec
What you bring to the session. Written so a reader can tell whether it has been met without asking you.
- you have drafted, in outline form, a diagnosis for at least one of the three week 1 case studies (or your own week 1 package), naming which logic it optimises for and which week's framework is your evidence
- you have given and received one piece of specific feedback from another pair on whether their evidence actually supports their diagnosis, not just their stated conclusion
- you leave the lab with a list of which case(s) still need a real formula or standard applied, and which one that is
