Assessment
Every piece of graded work in the course, what it is worth, and when it is due.
Three assessments track the semester’s progression from observation to defence. The Queue Autopsy asks you to observe and analyse a real waiting system; the Policy Trial asks you to compare ordering rules on a declared dataset and defend one; The Honest Queue asks for a full, defended redesign of the SlopU Office of Everything. Each builds directly on the one before it.
Queue Autopsy
A close analysis of one real waiting system, separating what you observed from what you assumed, and accounting honestly for its slowest case.
Due 12 March 2027 · Weight: 20%
Policy Trial
A comparison of two queue-ordering policies against the same declared dataset, ending in a defended choice between them.
Due 9 April 2027 · Weight: 30%
The Honest Queue
A full redesign of the SlopU Office of Everything's front counter, defended against normal demand, congestion, uncertainty, failure and cancellation.
Due 14 May 2027 · Weight: 50%
