Final Exam

A comprehensive closed-book exam, weighted towards the equilibrium and tournament-equity material that only makes sense once the earlier weeks are in place.

Due: 27 May 2027 · Weight: 40%

The brief

Everything the midterm covered still applies. On top of it: equilibrium play, multi-way pots, tournament equity, and bankroll math — the parts of the course that only make sense once the earlier weeks are load-bearing under them.

The final exam is comprehensive but weighted towards weeks 7 through 12: mixed strategies and bluffing frequency, GTO against exploitative play, why the two-player equilibrium results stop being clean once a third player sits down, ICM tournament equity, and the Kelly criterion. At least one question on the paper asks you to connect a result from the first half of the semester to one from the second — for instance, using an equity-and-EV calculation from week 3 or 4 inside a later equilibrium or ICM argument — because the course’s own claim is that these pieces fit together, and the exam should ask you to show that, not just recite each piece separately.

What you submit

Written answers in the exam booklet, in the room, in the scheduled slot, under the same conditions as the midterm.

The spec

The brief poses the problem and leaves room for a response. The spec is the fixed part: what a marker checks. Some lines can be checked mechanically; the rest call for judgement.
