Week 12 Bench: Defending a design
A dry run of the capstone review, done as peer critique before it counts
10 May 2027
Before the Bench#
Bring a draft of your capstone’s device, adversary, and channel ranking — rough is expected; this session exists to make it less rough before the deadline, not to check finished work.
In the Bench#
Pair up and present your draft to each other in the form the capstone actually asks for: a device, an adversary, and an ordered list of which channels from the semester apply and in what priority. Take the critique seriously enough to change something before you leave — a ranking that survives contact with one sceptical peer is in noticeably better shape than one that has only survived contact with its own author.
Afterwards#
The capstone design review is due at the end of the teaching period. This is the last scheduled time the course gives you to find a gap in it before a marker does.
The spec
What you bring to the session. Written so a reader can tell whether it has been met without asking you.
- you have presented a device, an adversary, and a channel ranking to at least one other student before submission
- you can name one objection a peer raised that changed your ranking
- you can state your capstone's scope in one sentence a stranger to the course would understand
