SLOP1512: Web Design and Interactive Publishing

A foundation course in designing and building accessible, responsive websites. Students move from content structure and visual hierarchy to HTML, CSS, interaction, testing and publication.

Course status: Content portal ready. Lecture decks will be added later.

What you will learn

  1. Structure content with semantic HTML that makes sense without visual styling.
  2. Design clear layouts, type and colour systems for different screen sizes.
  3. Build responsive pages with CSS and test them with keyboard and screen-size checks.
  4. Document design decisions, feedback and sources through a small web project.

How the course works

Each week combines a short lecture, a hands-on build, a critique or test, and a small piece of project documentation. The final project develops through milestones rather than appearing only at the end of semester.
